Who's ready to grab that Golden Sail trophy?
Many members of our competitive Co-op are excited to earn the Legendary Yachtsman achievement and Golden Sail trophy reward. While our tiers of participation may encourage long-term membership with the ups and downs of life, the Golden Sail (GS) trophy achievement can be illusive when competitor teams vary in intensity from week to week. Thus, we will occasionally dedicate a regatta to maximum tasks and high points to grab that Golden Sail for our dedicated crew-mates who want to earn it!
For those not interested or unable to commit to this level of performance, it is required that they apply the opt out option by the Sunday before the planned week. (Of course, they may opt back in for the following week with all goals as usual). See below for details on how to opt in to a scheduled Golden Sail race. |
Next Golden Sail Race: TBD
Golden Sail Plan
👉 POINTS: Must only take tasks worth 135 points; all other tasks must be dumped. Remember: during GS races, we keep 135 point tasks ONLY; however, if you accidentally accept a task that is below 135, do not dump it: complete it so we get at least those points.
📝 TASKS: Must complete 16/15 tasks, which means you'll need to save 10 T-cash for this purpose. We will not have the luxury of being selective with tasks and everyone is expected to take whatever is available as quickly as possible. No reservations. HOL and Mining will be allowed as one per person until everyone has one, see below for details.
⏰ TIMING: All racers must WAIT to take the first task until the board is set with ONLY 135 point tasks. One of the Leaders will send a message confirming that the board is ready so there is no confusion. On the topic of timing, Golden Sail racers will need to complete their tasks as quickly as reasonably possible, though there’s no deadline other than the regatta itself. This means that you will need to be actively checking in on your tasks to stay on top of them; we highly recommend setting an alarm so as not to forget or time out on anything. Wondering if you have enough time to complete a task? Check out this 135 Point Task Calculator.
📝 PREP: All participants in the Golden Sail race will be expected to prepare their Township for this "balls to the wall" race week by preparing for potential tasks. To whatever degree is possible, we will try to coordinate prep work the day before in order to have the most diverse spread of prepared items. See below for preparation outline.
⚓️ CO-OP: We will be closed to new members for 7 days prior to the start date above. This means Elders and Leaders should not invite anyone new during this time.
🤝 NOTE: Yep, we're playing a game and that should help us keep perspective on any challenges that arise. On the other hand, we are also asking our teammates to opt out this week if they are not 100% committed to our Golden Sail plan. It is imperative that those of us racing complete all of the tasks before us and show our team members, racing and not racing, that we value their efforts.
✅ REQUIRED RESPONSE:
👍 To participate in the Golden Sail race:
👎 To opt out of the Golden Sail race:
📌 IMPORTANT 📌
To ensure maximum participation for this effort, anyone who is still set to “Racing” without the * in their town name on the day before the Golden Sail race will be kicked from the Co-op with an invitation to rejoin.

✅ REQUIRED RESPONSE:
👍 To participate in the Golden Sail race:
- No later than the last day of the preceding regatta, please add (and keep) a * to the beginning of your town name as confirmation that you are planning to participate in the Golden Sail run according to the above plan. (Hint: Earlier is better as it can help us adjust our strategy to have an idea of participant count!)
- By placing the * at the beginning of your town name, it ensures that your intention to participate will not get lost in Chat or at the end of a long name.
👎 To opt out of the Golden Sail race:
- On or before the last day of the preceding regatta, go to your Additional Settings and uncheck the Participate in Regatta box.
- Please note that whenever you activate the opt out, it will remove you from the race for the upcoming week while allowing you to stay in the Co-op. (It will not opt you out of a race that has already started nor will you lose the opportunity to collect your rewards).
- How you spend your time opted out is your choice, of course, but if you would like to support your fellow team members by making and filling requests, you can be an invaluable and much appreciated asset.
📌 IMPORTANT 📌
To ensure maximum participation for this effort, anyone who is still set to “Racing” without the * in their town name on the day before the Golden Sail race will be kicked from the Co-op with an invitation to rejoin.

More Information About the Golden Sail
EARN THE LEGENDARY YACHTSMAN ACHIEVEMENT
Earning first place in the Golden League race completes the Legendary Yachtsman achievement and awards you the Golden Sail trophy, a beautiful, braggy decoration. DO I HAVE TO USE T-CASH? The short answer is yes, but only 10 T-cash for the 16th task. Some of our racers will save up or purchase additional T-cash for the occasion of this race to aid in finishing tasks more quickly. This effort is much appreciated and encouraged, though not necessarily required. If it is your first time earning the trophy, we do encourage you to save up your mining tools, T-cash, and clovers for a couple weeks in advance so that you can contribute as much as possible, especially to speed along slow tasks like planes. |
ARE TASKS ASSIGNED?
With the exception of HOL and Mining, we do not "assign" tasks, but it is expected that each racer accepts whatever task is available (with some exceptions, like a factory task for which you are not prepped). We all do our best to prepare and collaborate to fairly distribute tasks; still, we offer no guarantees due to the great variety in levels, upgrades, time zones, etc. (Wondering if you have enough time to complete a task? Check out this 135 Point Task Calculator). HOL and Mining: Using your town name (e.g. Firenze - HOL, Mining), mark when you've received your first HOL and first Mining task as these are instant tasks to help boost everyone's task count. Once everyone has had one of each, leaders will send a message and they will become "free for all" like other tasks. Back to Top |

GENERAL PREPARATION
COORDINATED PREPARATION
As desired, we can use in-game Chat to coordinate what we should each prepare of the items below so we cover the most tasks possible.

GENERAL PREPARATION
- Everyone who has a Zoo should monitor their Hot Items for those that take less than an hour. This way, someone should almost always be ready for a Zoo task (or three).
- Keep your feed mills going to be prepared for feeding animals.
- If you have 3 feeders, we recommend 1 each devoted to cow and chickens and the third to cycle through the other three feed types (that are needed less frequently and take longer to produce).
- Save all of your mining supplies for mining tasks.
- There's no set amount of supplies that will guarantee mining 58 ore as a great deal depends on luck and strategy. Sometimes you can get by with relatively few supplies. However, storing a hundred or so picks plus a few dynamite and TNT should be sufficient for one task (or lots of dynamite and TNT and fewer picks). If you're able to make use of the See the Light booster, you will be able to mine more with less equipment.
- Save up clovers. An easy 30 clovers will instantly complete the 135 point HOL task.
- Have your plane filled and ready, but not sent - planes are the most common 135 task.
- Have all 3 trains ready to be sent (careful not to fill every crate or it will send automatically).
- Manage your crop cycle so that at some point in the race, you can take a growing task.
- The following factories only produce one item each that may be needed for the regatta, prep whichever you can/would like.
- Asian Restaurant: Rice Noodle
- Beverage: Cappucino
- Candy: Jelly Beans
- Doll: Puppet
- Down: Down Quilt
- Grill: Quiche
- Hot Dog: Corn Dog
- Jam: Strawberry Jam
- Paper: Wallpaper
- Snack: Puffed Rice
- Sugar: Syrup
COORDINATED PREPARATION
As desired, we can use in-game Chat to coordinate what we should each prepare of the items below so we cover the most tasks possible.
- Choose which ship task to prep for: Frutus, Olivia, Tropica, and Fisherman's Isle.
- These factories produce more than one item that may be asked for in the regatta. The numbers indicate the estimated amount of time to complete the relevant task if five of the items are prepared ahead of time.
