This page is required reading for all members of Aphrodite’s Piers, a Golden Sail-winning Co-op on the mobile (iOS, Android, Kindle) platform for the Township game application. Below are the topics of our guidelines:

Co-op Culture
For the members of Aphrodite’s Piers, a significant part of our Township entertainment involves enjoying Regatta rewards and collaborating with other players. In order to foster a fun, fair, and competitive Co-op, the founding leader, Firenze, created a set of moderately competitive guidelines to attract like-minded adult players. While the methods evolve with experience and feedback, the central themes of playfulness, collaboration, and active participation persevere. In this spirit, Aphrodite’s Piers has three central objectives:
We achieve these lofty goals through clearly articulated guidelines for active participation, required task and point minimums, and frequent requests/sharing. To keep our team in sync we foster communication through in-game Chat and this website. Our crew enjoys a comfortable place to settle in and make friends while following reasonable task requirements in a fun and collaborative atmosphere. We frequently help each other complete tasks and shares. Still, no one is responsible for someone else's minimums. If we choose not to opt out, we must manage our own time and resources in order to meet requirements. You should also know we can be a rowdy bunch! This is a Co-op for good-natured, Township-enthusiast adults only.

Status Assignments
Please note that there is fluidity to the Member/ Elder Status assignments as we primarily use this feature to track a player’s most recent activity: completing all tasks earns Elder status (once a new player has been proven, approximately 2 weeks of racing) and completing less than all tasks earns Member status. The game calls it a “demotion” when moving a player from Elder to Member but we do not intend it to be punishing, simply to maintain an updated roster as we monitor Member engagement and encourage players to complete all tasks (without threatening them to lose their membership if they don't). Completing the maximum tasks in the next race will typically earn you the Elder abilities back. If you believe your Status assignment is an error, please make a polite request in Co-op Chat – no one is “owed” a certain Status and we’re only human. :)

Recruiting
While we have a "Closed" group and Application process through our website, the game allows Elders and Leaders to directly invite players from their Friends list. In order to target recruiting toward those who are most likely to be in compliance with team guidelines, Elders and Leaders are encouraged to invite players from their Friends list that fit the following criteria:

When the invitee accepts your invitation, please warmly welcome them and immediately direct them to the New Applicants section of this website. If they do not complete an Application, they will be kicked. Please note that you are not held responsible for an invitee's behavior, though we appreciate your best judgment in extending invitations.

Communication
The following details what information you are responsible for and what kind of communication is expected from you:
- As a part of this team, you are responsible for reading all in-game Leader Messages (found in Co-op Building) and website Announcements. If you ignore Announcements, you will be kicked.
- Communicate through the proper channels. All Co-op communication happens in-game through Chat. If you need to contact the Leader outside of the game, use the Contact form. If you're looking for a wider forum to connect with other members, we encourage you to join our Township forums group and/or our Facebook group.
- Interact. You do not have to be as “chatty” as many of us are, but you are expected to interact using Chat, especially to encourage one another and cooperate to complete orders and tasks efficiently. You will quickly notice that we like to joke around and have a good time doing so. We are not into censoring so please don't make us police you. Rude, hypercritical, or non-participatory members will be removed (and reported if necessary).
|
- Get your questions answered. If you have a question about how the game works, check the Help section in Township first (or access it online). If you have a question about the guidelines, check this website first. Any remaining questions: ask in-game using Chat.
- Be patient. Chat shows everyone the same thing, which means there’s no need to ask for items after you’ve just made a request or asked for help. Trust your team to help you as they are able; we are known for being quick and generous. It is simply a reality that occasionally you may request items that players are not able to share at the time for a variety of reasons.
- Mistakes: Should you make an error in the regatta or with any other part of our guidelines, please quickly let us know in Chat what happened. We're human and understand things happen sometimes, but without notice, we are left to guess that you don’t understand the requirements and subsequently kick you. We will not chase players down for an explanation.
- Suggestions: Constructive feedback and discussion are key to our Co-op’s success and we've adapted many times based on member comments. In order to foster smooth sailing for all and allow the Leader(s) to enjoy playing the game itself, please do offer your comments (or “suggestive” questions), but save them for the last day or two of a regatta. (Significant changes typically happen between regattas or between seasons). Politely and clearly share your ideas in Chat where the team can interact with you on the topic as changes affect us all. Suggestions are best received from players who have been a part of Co-op for at least a few days and who have thoroughly perused this website (and especially the FAQ) for applicable information.

Participation
>>> Members, get your Aphrodite's Piers Participation Record here. The dropdown feature will only work on a computer browser or on a mobile device with the free Google Sheets app.
UNDERSTAND TOWNSHIP GAMEPLAY
Familiarize yourself with gameplay and how Co-ops and Regattas work with the in-game Help and Support section under Settings or online here. (If you would like to learn a few extra gameplay tips, check out our Tips & Resources).
ACTIVE PARTICIPATION
We expect that participants will earn their rewards through participation. This means you like to keep a close eye on your orders, level up to generally keep pace with the group, contribute to others, make help requests in Chat and crates, and most of all, complete the task minimum as specified above. Please try very hard not to dump a task after accepting it and pay attention to time requirements, especially on Mystery Tasks.

REGATTA TASKS
- All Regatta tasks are free for all - NO reservations. Township devs have added a "reservation" system but AP does not reserve tasks. However, you can use that "reserve" feature to indicate interest in a task so leaders know not to dump it. In other words, someone "reserving" a task is not a message to the team, but a message to leaders who will avoid clearing tasks that someone has tagged for interest. If you see a task marked "reserved" that you want to start, take it! We encourage you to actively prep, communicate about what you have ready, and monitor Chat to see what others may be ready for. If you've prepped for a task, jump on it quickly as it will not be guaranteed, even if you’ve communicated interest.
- Play strategically. When possible, prepare for upcoming tasks during other tasks and before the regatta starts. If you're fully prepped for a task on the board, let your team know when you'd like to grab the task. (It's not required nor guaranteed as others may also be prepped, but we do try to collaborate!) Preparation + Communication = success in this game!
- Take a look at gameplay suggestions accrued from seasoned players in Tips and Resources.
- Unless you are playing selfishly or failing team minimums, you will not be kicked for playing your own strategy.
- Prep-Required Tasks: Do not accept the House of Luck (HOL) or mining tasks unless you’ve done the necessary prep and are ready to finish them immediately. This also applies to Mystery Tasks: you must be prepared to immediately mine 58 ore and spend 30 clovers, just as is required for other mining and HOL tasks. (Hint: 135 HOL requires 6 plays which requires 30 clovers. Without the See the Light booster, a minimum of 100 picks and 10+ each of dynamite and TNT are recommended). It is also highly encouraged that you do not accept factory production tasks unless you have several items already on your shelves. (Think about it this way: if you take a task you haven't prepped for, someone else could finish it in half the time or less!)
TEAMWORK
- Share and fill crates. It’s not odd for our crew to help one another with hundreds of shares, but sharing 50 items is our share minimum per week. Request help on as many crates as you reasonably can (sometimes you're on a deadline, we get it)... Ideally, 1 crate per train and 3 per plane to help your teammates get clovers.
- Collaborate with your crew-mates. Be sure to frequently request help also so that teammates can earn clovers, money, and achievements, as well as clear their storage. No one is an island - collaborate on completing tasks, share products as often as you can, and direct teammates to the website for helpful info.
For example, you can say what’s upcoming on your plane that you know you’ll need help with so other players can help prep or set aside items for you in advance. (Psst… if you set items aside for someone and for any reason they can’t accept them, don’t worry about it. Sell the items or use them elsewhere). - Have fun! Play the game, keep it lighthearted, and support one another.
Enforcement
- All numbers regarding task minimums, point requirements, minimum level, and others are subject to change as the Co-op develops. If you have questions or are struggling, talk to your team and leader! We can't help you stay on our team if we don't know what's going on.
- Lack of knowledge regarding team guidelines is not excused as they are all clearly written here and you have the opportunity to ask clarifying questions in Chat.
- We do not generally give warnings before kicking because being sure someone sees Chat is not possible and we will not give room for potential passive aggressive behavior. However, when a player is kicked, Leaders typically offer an explanation in the kick note.
- In fairness to our hardworking team, players may be kicked without warning if:
- ...you are opted out for an extended period of time without discussing with Leaders
- ...you do not complete the task/points/help minimums while your regatta status is set to “Racing.”
- ...you do not read and comply with in-game messages and website Announcements.
- ...failure to abide by any of the other Co-op Guidelines.
